17th Edition Regulations

The new 17th Edition Regulations have been introduced to further harmonise with International and European Standards. All installations designed by East Finchley Electrical from the 30th June 2008 will comply with BS7671:2008.

The 17th Edition Regulations include a new Part 7 (special locations) which includes new requirements for bathrooms.

Bathroom

There have been changes to the Zoned System, RCD protection on all bathroom circuits, 230v socket outlets permitted 3m horizontally from the boundary of Zone 1, supplementary bonding may be omitted subject to the regulations being met.

Cables Concealed in Wall or Partitions

The new regulations state that for a cable concealed in the wall or partition at a depth less than 50mm from the surface to be provided with additional protection by means of RCD.
